“Do you want to watch a movie?”
I would ask her that every other night. I was in knots having to repeat the question and I don’t even know why. The payout was always worth it when I asked and she said yes. Watching these movies with her was one pop the very few ways we connected. Most of them were so good and just delicious to watch. She hated Pretty Woman and didn’t like Mae West. We both loved Enchanted and the Bing Crosby & Bob Hope movies. Bob Hope and Melvyn Douglas were my movie husbands, but I digress.
When we weren’t watching movies we watched Maude and Alice on repeat. Maude was my after school show when I was in middle school and I have no idea how that happened. It’s still one of my favorite shows of all time. Jean Harlow and Joan Crawford were just delightful to watch! I recommend Three Wise Girls and They All Kissed the Bride.
This list turned out to be a colorful collection of proof that I really did something special for Frannie, and for myself.
